Dolina Kościeliska Easy, family

A scenic valley with numerous caves and a mountain hut at Hala Ornak. An easy route, ideal for families.

Getting thereBus from the centre of Zakopane towards Dolina Kościeliska, Kiry stop.
Routes and time
  • Green trail: Kiry to the Hala Ornak hut, 1.5-2 hrs one way
  • Extra yellow: Kraków Ravine and Smocza Jama cave, +40 min to 1 hr
  • Extra black: Mroźna and Raptawicka caves, +40 min to 1 hr
Nosal Easy, right next to us

A short hike to the summit with lovely views of Zakopane, Giewont and the High Tatras. Great for beginners and families with older children. The climb is fairly steep but short.

Dolina Chochołowska Easy, long

The longest valley in the Polish Tatras, famous for crocuses in spring. The trail leads to a PTTK hut.

Kasprowy Wierch (1987 m) On foot or by cable car

The most popular peak, reachable on foot or by cable car. Magnificent Tatra views.

  • Blue trail: Kuźnice via Myślenickie Turnie to Kasprowy, 3.5 hrs
  • Yellow trail via Dolina Gąsienicowa (option via Murowaniec), approx. 4-4.5 hrs
Giewont (1894 m) Moderate, chains

One of the most recognisable peaks, with its iconic summit cross. A moderately difficult route, with chains on the final section.

  • Blue trail: Kuźnice via Kalatówki, Hala Kondratowa and Kondracka Przełęcz to the summit, 3 hrs one way
Morskie Oko Easy, long

The largest Tatra lake, surrounded by majestic peaks. An easy but long route (approx. 8 km one way). You can shorten the walk by horse-drawn cart.

  • Red trail: Palenica Białczańska to Morskie Oko, 2.5 hrs one way
  • With travel, the whole trip takes about 6-7 hrs
Dolina Pięciu Stawów More demanding

A route to one of the most beautiful spots in the Tatras, full of mountain lakes. A harder trail.

  • Green trail via Roztoka and Siklawa, approx. 3.5 hrs, gentler with better views
  • Black shortcut, approx. 2.5 hrs, faster but steep
  • Return via Szpiglasowa Przełęcz for the ambitious (chains), 6-7 hrs
Czerwone Wierchy Demanding

A scenic ridge in the Western Tatras, demanding on fitness. Four peaks: Kopa Kondracka (2005 m), Małołączniak (2096 m), Krzesanica (2122 m, the highest) and Ciemniak (2096 m).

A gentle trail at the foot of the Tatras, perfect for family walks. It links several Tatra valleys.

A scenic valley leading to the Siklawica waterfall. An easy route for family walks, with clearings and views of Giewont along the way.

Hala Gąsienicowa i Kalatówki Moderate

A popular destination surrounded by peaks (Kościelec, Świnica, Granaty). The Murowaniec hut on the meadow is a great base.
